The value of crow

What is the nutritional value of crow? I sincerely doubt its culinary quality. But at the same time, I have found it to be quite good at salving a bitten tongue in the future.

I’ve heard it said that God gave me twice as many ears as tongues, so I should listen twice as much as I speak. But I will speak. And I will have my say. If I’m lucky, I might even get in the last word. Having my say is usually paramount to being right.

Suffer the thought! I could be wrong. But it might be possible. Just this once. I can’t bear the mortal wound of erring. I’d rather double down. That’s fine. Maybe tasting crow twice is more memorable? Perhaps it’s better enjoyed the second time around?

While I know you’ve already learned your lesson, the hardest words in the English language for me are: “I am wrong”. Even the inane act of pecking out that phrase and I’m nauseous. There’s suddenly a certain corvine quality in the air. Seems like the plate is heaping.

Rather than swallow the fetid feast, I too often find a hill to die on: I’m right, and you’re wrong. Left lifeless on the heights of hubris, gravity will have its way.

Put down the sword. Pick up the fork. Swallow every bite. Hopefully, you won’t be savoring this mess again anytime soon.
